How many comets are seen every year ?

About twenty comets are seen by telescopes every year. About 5 to 7 may be new ones while others have been seen before. Over a hundred short period comets are known. Of the comets detected every year only 1 or 2 reach naked eye visibility, that too barely so. Easily visible comets are rare.
